The four primordial elements of antiquity can be traced back to the Greek philosopher Empedocles, who taught that everything in existence is composed of four primordial elements: earth, water, air, and fire . These are the same four elements that appear in nature. These elements were considered the primordial matter from which all things are composed. The ancient Greeks believed that these elements were the building blocks of existence, and that all things were made up of a combination of these four elements. Thus, fire would be the element responsible for destruction, air the element of freedom, water the element of transformation, and earth the element of stability.
